Open up my head and let me out! Dave Mathews
Florida's inspirational environment is fragile and delicate while at the same time being deep and eternal. My expressive forms borrow freely from the elemental vibrancy of Florida's subtropical setting where mangroves, reefs, orchids, mangos and key lime trees invite fluorescent interpretation. Visually they are evocative and provocative. They are a bit kitschy and a little kooky. But hey, it's only ART... let's have some fun!

The sculpted pieces are constructed of aluminum composite {which is what highway signs are made of} along with acrylic resin castings. Most pieces are roughly 6" deep with the larger compositions standing up to 12" off the wall. Smaller pieces weigh about a pound or two and the larger ones are up to roughly 25 lbs.
The art may be viewed in the Miville Gallery which is located on the second floor of the Franklin Shops on First Street, downtown Fort Myers, FL.
